Ferguson signed his first professional contract with the Vancouver Whitecaps at 18 after a stint in England with Leeds United. It began a career spanning 11 years across Canada and the United States, but highlighted by his National team debut in 1985 and the first of 9 caps he would earn for his country.
Retiring from a playing career in 1991, Ferguson turned his attention to coaching and is the current head coach of Canada’s National Para Soccer team, one that’s ranked 10th in the world.
