Three time Superbowl Champion with Pittsburgh Steelers
A key piece to the famed Steeler teams of the 1970’s, Roy Gerela was one of the early adopters of the ‘soccer style’ kick that many NFL place kickers use today. A three-time Superbowl champion, Gerela shook off badly bruised ribs to kick crucial points late in Superbowl X to help Pittsburgh to victory.
Following his playing career ending in 1979, Gerela has stayed with the game by coaching at the high school and collegiate level, most recently as the Head Coach of Gadsden High School in New Mexico.
